Did you know that there are 25,100 chimney fires resulting from wood burning hearth appliances in the U.S. every year? These fires result in 30 deaths and $126M in damages every year.
The EPA recommends that wood burning hearth appliances be installed and regularly maintained by a properly trained and certified installer. The National Fireplace Institute (NFI) conducts testing and certification of hearth appliance professionals. The Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA) is a good source for finding a certified chimney sweep. All hearth appliances, including wood stoves, gas fireplaces, pellet stoves and fireplace inserts, should be maintained in accordance with manufacturer guidelines (check the owners manuals) in order to ensure proper and efficient operation and to mimimize safety and fire risks.
Since 1972, Fireplace Village New Hampshire has provided professional installation and maintenance of hearth appliances, including wood stoves, gas fireplaces, pellet stoves and fireplace inserts with our NFI certified staff. Fireplace Village is the largest certified hearth installer in NH.

When deciding between a vented or a vent-less gas fireplace there are many things to keep in mind, the most important being, do you want to use this fireplace as a way to heat your home?
While Vented gas fireplaces are more realistic looking, they operate under an open chimney, which means a large portion of the heat created is leaving your house. They also use slightly more gas.
A vent-less fireplace has a smaller flame, but is an excellent source of heat and many can even be set up to a thermostat. Vent less gas fireplaces may take the place of central heating if your electricity goes out, but should be used mainly as a secondary heat source.
Certain states ban the sale of vent-less gas fireplaces due to potential health concerns, including potential accumulation of carbon monoxide and oxygen depletion. Check your local building codes or contact a gas fireplace specialist at Fireplace Village before buying one of these hearth appliances.

One of the Fireplace Village NH premier hearth manufacturers, Heat & Glo, has added an exciting new energy efficient, environmentally friendly gas fireplace insert to the Fireplace Village offering. The Cosmo gas fireplace inserts are modern, direct-vent gas inserts. The most interesting aspect of this new gas insert is that instead of fiber gas logs, the Cosmo features black glass media. A black glass fireplace refractory liner reflects a ribbon of flames that run across the length of the firebox. This fireplace gas insert features a curved halo front. Homeowners have the choice of three fire place surround sizes. The installation of this gas insert into an existing fireplace opening is easy. The Cosmo gas insert comes standard with the IntelliFire ignition system (electronic fireplace insert ignition) with the option of a fireplace insert remote control. The electronic ignition system is highly efficient as no pilot light is required, significantly reducing waste when the gas insert is not burning.

Fireplace Village NH sells a wide variety of fireplace inserts, including gas fireplace inserts, pellet fireplace inserts and wood fireplace inserts. Visit one of our New Hampshire locations to find the perfect fireplace insert for your fireplace. We also install and service fireplace inserts.

 Fireplace Insert Changeout
Fireplace Village, a leading dealer and retailer of hearth appliances, formally announced today its participation in the Keene Woodstove Changeout Program. The Fireplace Village Keene Wood Stoves shop is the largest wood stoves dealer in Keene. Fireplace Village has been in operation since 1972. The company believes that the best way to improve and protect the environment is to upgrade old wood stoves, pellet stoves and fireplace stove inserts to new high efficiency, low emissions models. Efficient and environmentally friendly use of renewable energy sources such as wood is critical to improving environmental and economic conditions in NH, VT, ME and MA.
FireplaceVillage will offer select discounts on wood stoves, wood pellet stoves and fireplace stove inserts to Keene NH homeowners who participate in the Woodstove Changeout program.
Fireplace Village Keene carries a wide selection of wood stoves, gas stoves and fireplace inserts that qualify for the $1,000 voucher. The Keene Woodstove Changeout Program encourages voluntary replacement of old inefficient wood stoves with new, cleaner-burning fuel efficient woodstoves, pellet stoves, or gas heating systems. The campaign, modeled after the Environmental Protection Agency’s “Great American Woodstove Changeout,” will reduce emissions of small particle pollution from chimneys, especially when temperature inversions tend to trap smoke and air pollution in the valley during the cold winter months. Air monitors operated by the NH Department of Environmental Services have shown that air quality in the Keene valley has been adversely affected by smoke from wood stoves. Levels of particle pollution have been detected that are near or exceed national standards, placing the city and the county at risk for potential environmental violations.
“We are very excited to be participating in this program,” said Allen Coco, Product Manager Fireplace Village, who is also a member of the NEHPBA ( Northeast Hearth, Patio and Barbeque Association) Board of Directors and is providing expert advice to the NH Department of Environmental Services – Air Resources Division and the town of Keene, NH regarding the Woodstove Changeout program. “The Keene woodstove program is modeled after an existing successful EPA change out program. We hope that Keene homeowners take advantage of this tremendous opportunity to improve living conditions in the Keene valley.”
Fireplace Village Keene, 661 Marlboro Street (Rt 101), Keene, NH 03431.
