What Are the Differences?

Although both models are built on the same foundation of beauty, strength and efficiency that Jotul is famous for, your hearth will likely be better suited with one over the other. It all depends on the size of your existing fireplace.

The Little Diamond gas fireplace insert is designed to fit into smaller hearths – anything from 29 ¼” across and larger. The Great Diamond, on the other hand, requires that your existing hearth be at least 34 ¼” across. If you have a larger fireplace but only need the heating capacity of the Little Diamond, a quality fireplace surround will fit nicely and provide the look and power you need.

The Jotul Little Diamond gas fireplace insert can heat up to 1,300 square feet, making it ideal for your living space or main floor. If whole home heating is your aim, it’s better to choose the Jotul Great Diamond gas fireplace insert. This unit can handle up to 1,700 square feet. If your home is larger it may be better to consider a Jotul wood burning model or install more than one hearth appliance.
