12 Inch Home Made Pizza
Ingredients
Sauce
1 tbsp olive oil
1/2 onion, diced small
1 clove garlic, minced
1 x 15-oz can whole tomatoes 1 sprig fresh oregano
1/2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp kosher salt
1/8 tsp ground pepper
Preparation
Sauce
Crust
1 and 1/2 cups warm water 2 Tbsp olive oil
2 tsp kosher salt
3 x 3/4 cups bread flour
1/2 cup corn meal
2 tsp sugar
2 tsp rapid rise yeast
- Heat the oil in a 1-1/2 qt sauce pan. Cook the onion and garlic until softened and translucent, about 3 minutes. Stir as necessary.
- Add tomatoes, crushing lightly with your hands as you add them. Be sure to add the juice, too. Strip the leaves of oregano from the stem and then chop roughly. Add the oregano and the sugar. Simmer, stirring occasionally for about 20-30 minutes, until thickened. Add salt and pepper to taste.
- If you prefer a non-chunky sauce, puree the ingredients before putting in pot

It’s 2 o’clock and it’s time to fire up our Big Green Egg. Its a beautiful day and there is nothing better then firing up the smoker and preparing for a get together with family and friends. We fill the firebox with some of the Big Green Egg natural lump charcoal ad touch it off with some of their official fire starters. Open up the air control and watch an wait for the temp to rise. It doesn’t take long and we are ready to put our pizza on the pizza stone. There is nothing better then the smell of the wood smoke with the aroma of our pizza baking over the open fire beneath. It’s like we have our own brick pizza oven. In what seems like a very short period of time our pizza is done and everyone is enjoying our delicious creation. This is how a weekend should always start
